What is the largest item you can galvanize?
Approximately 63’ x 10’ x 8’8” wide weighing not more than 20 tons.
Do you have a price list?
No. Offering competitive pricing, we examine each customer’s needs individually and price accordingly.
How thick is the zinc coating?
The zinc thickness is largely a function of the steel chemistry, and is beyond the control of the galvanizer. We meet or exceed all thickness specified under ASTM 123.
Do you issue certifications of compliance?
Yes. If requested, we will gladly issue a certification of compliance to the appropriate ASTM standards. We have a full time QA/QC department solely for our galvanizing process.
Do you have the ability to preheat my steel before galvanizing?
Yes. We have one of the world’s largest preheaters capable of reaching temperatures in excess of 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
Will my steel “distort” when exposed to the high heat of the zinc kettle?
No. The operating temperature of the bath (835 degrees Fahrenheit) is not sufficient to distort steel. It can, however, relieve stresses that are inherent in a fabrication due to uneven welding, cold working, dissimilar thickness of metals, etc. By using our preheater to reduce thermal shock, this possibility is greatly reduced.
Is galvanizing (zinc) dangerous to the environment?
No. On the contrary, zinc is essential to health (just think of breakfast cereals with added zinc or multivitamins with zinc additives).
What do you mean by “environmentally-friendly”?
Sabre Galvanizing Services is proud to be one of the most environmentally-friendly galvanizers of its size in North America. The toxic waste emissions (fumes and smoke) that are generated from our facility are less than 5 parts per million (essentially zero). We use recycled zinc for galvanizing, and totally regenerate our acid and flux chemicals in-house with no disposal of hazardous waste.
What about the dangerous caustic soda used in degreasing?
Sabre Galvanizing Services is one of only a handful of galvanizers in the world who do not use this process. We utilize an environmentally-friendly additive in the acid tanks that removes oil and grease.
Can you store our material until it is needed?
Yes. Sabre Galvanizing Services has ample storage space and can make arrangements to store your material on-site for extended periods for a minimal cost.
Do you have your own trucks for shipping?
No. We have determined that it is more cost-effective for all parties involved to utilize outside trucking. Our shipping department will be happy to coordinate the details with your trucker to ensure quick turn around.
